Bridger Bike Park awarded 'Project of the Year' by the Governor's Office of Outdoor Recreation - August, 2020
This year, the Bridger Bike Park won the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation's 'Project of the Year' Award at the annual Recreation Summit, an event hosted by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
Completed in October of 2019, the Bridger Bike Park was the first BMX pump track in Logan City. Its initial year of use has demonstrated how much the community enjoys this facility, its common to see residents with small children on strider bikes, teenagers, and adults alike pumping around the beginner, intermediate and expert tracks.
The bike park is the result of a grassroots effort supported by the Cache Trails Alliance, Logan City Parks & Recreation, Cache County, and local businesses.
The Cache Trails Alliance began a fundraising campaign to make this vision a reality, these funds were then matched by Logan City. The dream was further supported by grants from Cache County RAPZ funding and the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation.
Recognition and appreciation goes to Dayton Crites, then-Cache County Trails Planner; Russ Akina, Logan Parks & Rec Director; Logan City’s Mayor, Holly Daines; then-Logan City Mayor Craig Peterson. Cache Trails Alliance fundraising organizers Tim Wolford, Sandra Escareno, and their team; the leadership team at Cache Trails Alliance: Paul Gibbons and Paul Richins; and the generous donors, both small and large, that had a hand in bringing this project to fruition. Sponsor support came from Sunrise Cyclery, Speed Mountain, Jagaloon.com, Joyride Bikes, Al’s Cyclery, and many others.
