Bunchgrass Reroute Workdays
Want to help make our trails even better? The USFS and Trails Cache need your help!
The USFS is leading a project to reroute the lower section of the Bunchgrass Trail, descending from Whitepine Lake and Tony Grove, to the lower Tony Grove parking lot. Approximately 2 miles of trail will be rerouted. These reroutes will take place in two locations. A lower reroute will connect the existing trail to the Tony Grove Winter Trailhead. This lower reroute will include the construction of a bridge, the installation of a cattle guard, and some fencing work. The upper reroute will take place approximately 2 miles from the existing trailhead. This reroute will include a bridge installation, as well as over a mile of rerouted trail.
Every Saturday and Wednesday in August, the USFS his hosting drop-in trail workdays at the Bunchgrass Trail.
Every Saturday in August 8:00am – 1:00pm
Every Wednesday in August, 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Each workday will start with an orientation and meetup at the Tony Grove Winter Trailhead, due West of the entry to the Tony Grove access road. Volunteers arriving late should plan on following the old trail alignment uphill to encounter the volunteer groups. Contact Lisa Thompson, USFS Volunteer Coordinator with additional questions.
