May is National Bike Month

Across the country, May is recognized as National Bike Month – and here in Cache County, the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee and the Trails Cache are celebrating by putting on Bike to Work and School Week 2017 from May 15th- 19th.

This year’s theme is a Bicycle Passport.  Each morning of bike to work week residents are encouraged to ride their bicycle to free commuter breakfasts hosted by our partners, and to pick up a passport filled with coupons and incentives that serves as their entry into a Friday raffle and social at Stokes Nature Center.

Bicycle commuter breakfasts will be hosted by Stacked Pancakes, Caffe Ibis, Even Steven’s, The Sportsman, Island Market , Got Health?, and JUB Engineers / Cache Valley Transit District.  Each commuter breakfast location will be offering bicycle tune-ups, breakfast snacks, prizes,  The week’s celebrations will conclude with a bike ride with Logan City Mayor Craig Petersen and an evening social hosted by Stokes Nature Center.

The ride with the Mayor will be an opportunity for anyone to hop on a bicycle and tour some great improvements that Logan City has made, and will be making in regards to active transportation, and have a moment to dialog with the city’s Mayor.

Ride in with old, ride out with new.

The final event will be a social at Stoke’s Nature Center, with live music and a raffle to reward those who explored Cache County by bicycle during the week.  One lucky participant will roll away with a new Bicycle courtesy of Sunrise Cyclery, and many others can win prizes from Icon, Campsaver, Malouf, Bike Utah, Al’s Sporting Goods, Wimmer’s Ultimate Cycles, and more!

Each passport contains coupons redeemable (by bicycle) at local business partners.  Each time the passport is brought (by bicycle) to participating businesses, a stamp/signature is gained – and each stamp (signature) is worth one more ticket in Friday night’s raffle for a free bicycle and many more prizes.  Participants must be present to win. Full Schedule of Events is below.

See y'all at breakfast!
