Wildfire Preparedness
Wildfires can spread rapidly, threatening lives, homes, and natural resources. Dry conditions, strong winds, and vegetation can increase wildfire risk, making preparation essential before an emergency occurs.
Preparedness Tips:
- Create a defensible space by clearing dry grass, leaves, and other flammable materials around your home
- Prepare an emergency kit with food, water, medications, important documents, and supplies for pets
- Develop and practice a family evacuation plan with multiple routes
- Sign up for local emergency alerts and monitor weather and fire conditions
- Keep vehicles fueled and ready for a quick evacuation
During a Wildfire:
- Follow evacuation orders immediately
- Stay informed through official sources
- Wear protective clothing and avoid exposure to smoke when possible
Being prepared and acting early can reduce risk and improve safety during wildfire emergencies.
