Annexations


Step 1: Proposed Annexation Notice Request

After filing a Notice of Intent with the municipality, a notice needs to be requested. This notice will be mailed to every property owner within a 300ft radius of the proposed annexed area. After the mailing has been sent the county will send you a Certificate of Notice. After receiving the Certificate of Notice a petition needs to be created and submitted to the county for review.

Step 2: Annexation Petition Review

After recieiving a Certificate of Notice an annexation petition needs to be created and submitted to the county. A petition will be created by the municipality and is a formal request submitted by a municipality to incorporate a specific area of land into an existing city or town. This petition must comply with the requirements outlined in Utah Code § 10-2-403.

The petition must include 

-  Signatures from property owners as required from Utah Code 10-2-806(3), 5 of the signers need to be designated as sponsors, and one of those 5 needs to be designated as the contact sponsor. The mailing addresses of each of those sponsors are also required.

- An accurate and recordable map prepared by a licensed surveyor

- The Notice of Intent and a list of all affected entities that the Notice of Intent was sent to.

- A statement of the anticipated timetable for development

- If applicable, applications for a Master Planned Development and preliminary subdivision plat. 

- If the petition proposes an cross county annexation a resolution described in Utah Code 10-2-805(4)(a)(iii) is required
